With school just around the corner, we are gearing up for some exciting new exhibits! Mark your calendar with these dates so you don’t miss out on some awesome art work from the Permanent Collection, Axe Library Special Collections and local K-12 students.
Lasting Impressions August 30 – December 1, 2016 in the University Gallery
The Special Collections and University Archives at Pittsburg State University contain material pertaining primarily to Kansas and the University. Art of various mediums, both original and reproductions, are part of the collection as well, and a small representation of these are on loan for the Fall 2016 Exhibit. A printmaking demo will take place September 7th from 4:00pm to 6:00. The talk and reception will be the next day, September 8th from 4:00 to 5:00 and 5:00 to 6:00pm respectively.
blue brew September 6th – January 12, 2017 in the Harry Krug Gallery
Curated by Stella Hastings, Professor of Music at Pittsburg State University, this exhibit explores motion, stillness, and the celebration of the connection of art and music via the Pittsburg State University’s Permanent Collection. The curator’s talk and reception will be on October 20th from 4:00 to 5:00 and 5:00 to 6:00pm.
Celebration the National Parks K-12 September 14 – December 1, 2016 in the Art Connectors Community Gallery (second floor Porter)
Enjoy imaginative art work from Pittsburg K-12 students, inspired by The National Parks: America’s Best Idea. This year Family Art Day will be September 24th from 2:00 to 4:00pm in Porter Hall.
